Feeding time at the reindeer farm

Raattama lies within the Kyrö reindeer herding district. Our farm is a small one, like most here. In winter some of the reindeer stay home in an enclosure to get stronger, and those are the ones you meet.

We feed them every day whether anyone visits or not. You come along, help with the hay, and afterwards sit by the fire in the kota. Two hours, always your own group only.

Reindeer farm visit

Two hours at our farm. It starts with a sleigh ride behind the snowmobile to the enclosure a kilometre away, then feeding the reindeer and time by the fire. Open to anyone; cabin guests get a discount.

Four pairs of snowshoes come with each cabin in winter. Ice swimming in Saivojärvi can be arranged for cabin guests on request, with the sauna warm when you come back.

Kirsi and Mika

We live in Raattama and run the Alatalo reindeer farm in the Kyrö herding district.

The two cabins are ours. We look after them ourselves and we are usually nearby if you need something.

Getting here

Raattama is a small village in the Kittilä municipality, about 80 km from Kittilä airport. Most people turn towards Levi from the airport. We are the other way, which is why there are no queues.
